Nyungwe National Park

Nestled in the southwestern highlands of Rwanda, Nyungwe National Park is a treasure trove of biodiversity, ancient montane rainforest, and rare primates. As one of Africa’s oldest and most pristine rainforests, Nyungwe offers a truly immersive experience for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and adventure travelers. This tour package from Travel Miles invites you to walk among the treetops, meet playful chimpanzees, and hike through misty trails in a park that feels untouched by time.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kigali through rolling hills and cultural landmarks. Once in Nyungwe, prepare for guided adventures including the iconic canopy walkway—a suspended bridge that gives you an eagle-eye view of the lush forest below. You’ll also track chimpanzees in their natural habitat, hear their calls echo through the trees, and watch their social interactions up close.

For those seeking more encounters, Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species, including large groups of Angola colobus monkeys, which you can track on guided walks. Bird lovers will also be in paradise, with over 300 bird species recorded, including rare Albertine Rift endemics like the great blue turaco. Hiking trails to Isumo Waterfall and through tea plantations add even more richness to the experience.

Depending on your schedule, Travel Miles offers 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day options. The shorter itineraries include key highlights like the canopy walk and chimpanzee trekking, while longer stays allow for deeper exploration, cultural stops, and added comfort.

All packages include round-trip transport in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle, park entrance fees, permits, accommodation (with options from budget lodges to luxury eco-retreats), professional English/French-speaking guides, meals, and bottled water. Whether you’re a solo traveler, couple, group, or family, this package is customizable to meet your interests and budget.

Be sure to bring hiking boots, a rain jacket, long-sleeved clothing, insect repellent, and a camera. The forest is cool and damp, but incredibly rewarding at every turn. Every moment in Nyungwe feels like stepping into a hidden world—serene, green, and full of life.
